That is, unless you're talking about Dashing Diva, the country's first "branded" chain of nail salons. Dashing Diva’s newest location, at 149 Third Avenue in New York City (a few short blocks from Union Square), makes its official “debut” on November 1st and is sure to capture a significant share of what is one of the country’s largest nail salon markets (New York has over 4,000 nail salons).

“Dashing Diva has been at the forefront of raising the standards of hygiene and sanitation in the nail salon industry ever since we opened our first store back in 2003,” explains Robert Cleary, Dashing Diva’s Director of Product Development & Operations. “We autoclave all our metal tools, just like you see at the dentist’s office, and use brand new disposable files and blocks for each client. Now we’re planning to raise the bar yet again with the introduction of a highly efficacious new cleaning and disinfecting procedure using AccelTM.”

Accel, a new cleaning and disinfecting solution developed by Virox Technologies (a Canadian-based company headquartered near Toronto) uses a synergistic blend of disinfectants combined with a low level of hydrogen peroxide that dramatically increases its germicidal potency and cleaning performance. It’s often used on cruise ships to prevent to prevent e-coli outbreaks and was sent to China to help battle the SARS epidemic. Accel is a highly effective, environmentally safe disinfectant. According to Cleary, “Dashing Diva will be the first nail salon in the U.S. to introduce this new level of disinfection.”
